Party Bus Rentals in Portsmouth: Search & Save
Newportnewspartybuscompany.com is not a bus company. It doesn't own a single vehicle, and it doesn't provide transportation itself. What it is, is an easy way to compare party bus and charter bus options from a large network of transportation providers serving Portsmouth, Norfolk, Chesapeake, and all of Hampton Roads — without calling company after company and waiting on callbacks that never quite line up.
Here's how it works: fill out one short form with your date, group size, and where you're headed. In seconds, you'll see different vehicle options and pricing side by side — party buses, minibuses, Sprinter vans, Sprinter limos, and full-size charter buses — so you can compare and find what actually fits your group. No account required.
Free quote, no obligation, any time of day. Or skip the form entirely and call 948-216-8670 to talk through your options directly. Either way, you could have pricing for your Portsmouth trip in under a minute.

Get the Portsmouth Bus Amenities You Want
Not every Portsmouth group trip needs the same vehicle. A 25-passenger party bus heading to Olde Towne bars on a Saturday night typically comes with color-changing LED lighting, a premium sound system with Bluetooth, flat-panel TVs, and wraparound perimeter seating — the amenities that make the ride part of the event. A minibus shuttling wedding guests between a Churchland ceremony venue and a reception hall in downtown Norfolk is a better match for groups that want climate-controlled comfort and reclining seats without the party atmosphere.
For larger corporate moves or long-distance runs up to Richmond or Virginia Beach, a charter bus adds undercarriage luggage bays, onboard restrooms, overhead storage, and available WiFi — so a two-hour ride doesn't feel like two hours. Amenities vary by vehicle; compare options and pictures side by side using the online quote tool.
Air-conditioning
Wraparound Leather Seats

Amenities listed above are common features that MAY be available on party buses. Because we are a referral website and do NOT own or operate buses, exact features vary by vehicle, provider, and availability. After you submit your quote request, you can browse vehicle options, pricing, and available details on the results page. To give you a planning baseline: a 15-passenger party bus runs roughly $200–$350/hour on weekdays and $250–$350/hour on weekends. A 25-passenger party bus runs about $250–$350/hour on weekdays and $275–$375/hour on weekends.

More Choices on Portsmouth Party Buses, One Search
Hampton Roads has a geography problem that makes group transportation genuinely complicated. Portsmouth connects to Norfolk through the Downtown Tunnel and the Midtown Tunnel — both of which back up badly during commute hours and after major events at Chartway Arena or Harbor Park. The High Rise Bridge on I-264 toward Virginia Beach is another chokepoint on game days.
When your group is scattered across Portsmouth, Chesapeake, and Suffolk, coordinating a caravan of personal vehicles through tunnels and bridges while everyone's trying to meet at the same time is a headache nobody wants on a celebration night.
Newportnewspartybuscompany.com cuts through that by letting you compare a wide range of bus types and prices from providers serving the whole Hampton Roads region — all in one place. Instead of calling around, you fill out one form. Instead of being limited to whatever one company happens to have available, you see options across the network.
The site is available any time, any day — no business hours, no waiting. And if you'd rather talk it through, 948-216-8670 connects you to someone who can put together a custom package based on your headcount, date, and itinerary. No obligation, free quote, takes about a minute.
Group Transportation Options in Portsmouth
From airport transfers and concert shuttles to wedding transportation, bachelorette nights, prom, sporting events, corporate shuttles, and school field trips — whatever brings your group together in Portsmouth, there's a bus in the network ready for it.

Portsmouth Airport Shuttles & Transportation
Portsmouth groups flying out of Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) deal with a 35-to-40-minute drive up I-664 under normal conditions — but "normal conditions" around Hampton Roads is a loose concept during morning commutes. Norfolk International Airport (ORF) is closer, roughly 15–20 minutes from Olde Towne Portsmouth via the Downtown Tunnel, but tunnel delays can push that timeline unpredictably. Trying to coordinate multiple cars, parking fees, and separate rideshare pickups for a large group coming back from a flight turns a simple airport run into a logistics puzzle.
A charter bus or minibus solves the whole thing in one move. Everyone boards at one address, the group arrives together, and bags go in the undercarriage without the scramble of stuffing luggage into rideshare trunks. Have your group assembled and bags ready before the bus pulls up — that timing coordination is everything at a busy commercial airport.
Call 948-216-8670 to set up your Portsmouth airport shuttle.

Portsmouth Bachelor & Bachelorette Transportation
A Portsmouth bachelorette night that covers Olde Towne bars, a dinner stop in Norfolk's Ghent neighborhood, and a late-night push to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront is about 25 miles of driving across two tunnels and a bridge — exactly the kind of itinerary where nobody in the group wants to be the one stuck navigating and staying sober. Olde Towne Portsmouth has a walkable bar strip along High Street and Court Street, but getting from there to Ghent or the Oceanfront means tunnel traffic, bridge tolls, and parking hunts at every stop.
A party bus for your Portsmouth bachelorette keeps the whole group together from the first stop to the last, with LED lighting, Bluetooth sound, and flat-panel TVs on board. The night runs on your schedule, not the rideshare surge clock. Call 948-216-8670 to get pricing.

Portsmouth Birthday, Sweet 16, & Quinceañera Party Bus Rentals
A party bus arrival is one of the most memorable ways to kick off a milestone birthday in Portsmouth, and the vehicle itself becomes part of the celebration before you even reach the venue. Sweet 16s and quinceañeras heading to reception halls across Chesapeake or Virginia Beach — venues like the Chesapeake Conference Center or private banquet spaces along the Virginia Beach corridor — often deal with long drives and guests coming from multiple zip codes across Hampton Roads.
A Portsmouth birthday party bus handles the pickup run across Portsmouth, Chesapeake, and beyond, so guests aren't trickling in from different directions for half an hour after the event starts. For adult milestone birthdays hitting multiple stops across Olde Towne and Norfolk's Granby Street, a 20- or 25-passenger party bus is a natural fit. Use the online form to compare available vehicles and pricing for your date.

Portsmouth Concert Transportation & Shuttles
Most of Hampton Roads' major concert venues are a tunnel away from Portsmouth. Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater in Virginia Beach holds 20,000 people — and after a show, the outbound traffic on I-264 West toward the Downtown Tunnel backs up for over an hour. Trying to leave in separate cars means your group scatters, someone ends up stuck in the wrong lane for the tunnel, and the post-show energy drops fast.
Chartway Arena in Norfolk and Scope Arena on Brambleton Avenue both draw big crowds with limited nearby street parking on event nights, and the walk from peripheral garages can stretch 10–15 minutes each way.
A Portsmouth concert bus rental handles all of it. The group loads at one spot, parks the stress of tunnel navigation on someone else's plate, and picks back up together after the final song. Call 948-216-8670 to compare concert shuttle options.

Portsmouth Corporate Event Transportation
Portsmouth's corporate corridors — the naval shipyard area, the downtown government and legal offices along Crawford Street, and the growing Mid-Town business park district — often send employees and clients across the water to Norfolk for conferences, dinners, and waterfront events at venues like the Westin Virginia Beach Town Center or the Norfolk Waterside Marriott. Getting 20 or 30 colleagues through the Downtown Tunnel in separate vehicles, parked in different garages, and reassembled at the right entrance for a 7pm dinner reservation is a coordinating nightmare.
A Portsmouth corporate shuttle — minibus for mid-size teams, charter bus for larger groups — handles the cross-tunnel run cleanly and keeps everyone on the same schedule. Onboard WiFi and power outlets on select charter buses mean the commute doesn't eat into prep time, either. Call 948-216-8670 to talk through a package for your next corporate event.

Portsmouth Private Event Transportation Services
Portsmouth draws big crowds to events that create real transportation problems. The 757 Mayfest festival each spring at the Portside Waterfront Entertainment Complex brings thousands of attendees to the Olde Towne waterfront, and street parking in the surrounding blocks fills up hours before the gates open. The Portsmouth Seawall Festival draws large crowds to the same waterfront corridor along Crawford Parkway in late summer, and the city closes off key access streets during the event footprint.
A private charter bus or party bus for your Portsmouth group drops everyone at the waterfront entrance and picks up at a predetermined time — no parking scramble, no caravan coordination, no surge pricing at 11pm when half the city is trying to leave at once. For family reunions or church group outings hitting multiple Portsmouth and Chesapeake stops, a charter bus keeps everyone on one itinerary. Call 948-216-8670 to plan it out.

Portsmouth Homecoming & Prom Party Bus Rentals
Prom season in Portsmouth runs late April through May, and high schools across Portsmouth and Chesapeake — including I.C. Norcom and Churchland — all hold proms within a compressed six-week window. Demand for party buses across the entire Hampton Roads region spikes hard during that stretch, and availability from the provider network thins out fast. For prom: book by January or expect premium pricing and limited options by spring.
Waiting on a Portsmouth prom party bus until March or April almost always means paying more for fewer choices. Book as soon as your date is confirmed, headcount is set, and you know which venue you're heading to. The online form takes about a minute.
Call 948-216-8670 and the team can put together a custom prom package — pickup plan, vehicle match, and pricing — right over the phone.

Portsmouth School Event & Field Trip Transportation
Portsmouth school groups heading to field trip destinations like the Nauticus National Maritime Center (1 Waterside Dr, Norfolk, VA 23510) or the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center (717 General Booth Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23451) are looking at cross-tunnel drives that make personal vehicle carpooling a real liability. Nauticus sits on the Norfolk waterfront about 15 minutes from Olde Towne via the Downtown Tunnel, and the Virginia Aquarium is a 35-minute drive to Virginia Beach on a clear day — longer on a Friday morning with tunnel congestion.
A Portsmouth school event charter bus keeps students and chaperones together on one vehicle, with overhead storage for bags and lunchboxes and onboard restrooms on select vehicles so the stop count on longer drives stays low. ADA-accessible buses are available through the network — mention it when requesting your quote. Call 948-216-8670 to set up a school trip package.

Portsmouth Sporting Event Transportation
Portsmouth fans heading to Harbor Park in Norfolk for a Tides game park on the Norfolk side and deal with limited street parking along the waterfront — and after a night game, the walk back to scattered parking spots while everyone else is leaving the same exits is exactly as chaotic as it sounds. Hampton Coliseum events draw fans from across the region and require crossing either the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel or navigating I-664 and the Monitor-Merrimac — two of the most delay-prone crossings in Virginia.
A Portsmouth sporting event charter bus handles the tunnel navigation for the whole group, drops fans at the stadium entrance, and picks everyone up at a set location after the final out or the buzzer. No one's stuck waiting on a rideshare that's 22 minutes away at 10:30pm. Call 948-216-8670 to get a game-day quote.

Portsmouth Wedding Transportation & Shuttle Service
Portsmouth wedding venues span a wide geography — from historic Olde Towne churches like Trinity Episcopal (500 Court St, Portsmouth, VA 23704) to reception halls in Chesapeake, Norfolk waterfront ballrooms, and Virginia Beach resort properties. Guests flying in for the weekend often land at ORF or PHF and stay at hotels on the Norfolk or Virginia Beach side, which means your wedding transportation plan has to move people across the Elizabeth River reliably and on a tight schedule.
A Portsmouth wedding shuttle bus handles hotel block pickups and ceremony-to-reception runs without making out-of-town guests figure out the Downtown Tunnel on their own. A 14-passenger Sprinter limo is the right fit for the bridal party on the day itself — comfortable, composed, and no one has to squeeze into a personal vehicle in formalwear. Plan the shuttle circuit early; wedding weekends fill the network fast from May through October.
Call 948-216-8670 to lock in your date.

Portsmouth Winery Tour & Pub Crawl Transportation
Virginia's wine country is within reach of Portsmouth — Surry Cellars Winery (96 Colonial Trail E, Surry, VA 23883) sits about 35 miles northwest of Portsmouth via the Surry ferry or the James River Bridge, and the drive through rural Surry County on winding two-lane roads makes a sober designated driver a real ask for a full group. Closer in, Portsmouth's Olde Towne pub crawl circuit along High Street and into Norfolk's Colley Avenue corridor in the Ghent neighborhood covers enough ground that parking hop-by-hop becomes a puzzle after the third stop.
A Portsmouth winery tour bus or pub crawl party bus keeps the whole group together, handles the staging between stops, and means nobody's recalculating who's driving after the second tasting. Compare party bus options for your date using the online form, or call 948-216-8670.

How does this website work?
Newportnewspartybuscompany.com helps you compare bus rental options; it is not the bus company and does not rent, own, or operate vehicles. When you submit the quote form, your trip details go through a booking company so you can review pricing and available vehicles for your date. You compare the options and book through the process shown with your quote.
What is Newportnewspartybuscompany.com?
Newportnewspartybuscompany.com is a quote-comparison website for group ground transportation. It's not a bus company and it doesn't own any vehicles. How much does a party bus cost in Portsmouth?
Portsmouth party bus rental prices depend on the vehicle size, the date, and how many hours you need. A 15-passenger party bus runs roughly $200–$350/hour on weekdays and $250–$350/hour on weekends. A 25-passenger party bus runs about $250–$375/hour on weekends.
Minibuses start around $200–$250/hour on weekdays. Charter buses for larger groups generally run $200–$350/hour. Pricing for your specific date moves with demand — use the online form or call 948-216-8670 to get a number for your actual trip in about a minute.
The party bus prices page has full planning ranges across all vehicle types.
Does Portsmouth have its own major concert or sports venue?
Portsmouth itself doesn't have a large concert or sports arena — most major events draw Hampton Roads fans to Chartway Arena and Harbor Park in Norfolk, the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater in Virginia Beach, and Hampton Coliseum across the water in Hampton. All of those venues require navigating at least one tunnel or the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel from Portsmouth, which is exactly why booking a bus ahead of time matters — post-event tunnel traffic is not something you want to sort through in separate cars. Check the concert transportation page and the sporting event shuttle page for more detail on each venue approach.
What's the best vehicle for a group crossing the Downtown Tunnel?
For groups under 35 people making the cross-tunnel run from Portsmouth to Norfolk or Virginia Beach, a minibus is typically the most maneuverable fit — it handles the tunnel approach easily and can stage near most downtown Norfolk venues without the footprint of a full-size charter bus. For larger groups of 40 or more, a charter bus is the right call and still clears the Downtown Tunnel with no issue. Call 948-216-8670 if you want a recommendation based on your specific headcount and destination.
What airports serve Portsmouth, Virginia?
Two airports serve the Portsmouth area. Norfolk International Airport (ORF) is the closest — roughly 15–20 minutes from Olde Towne Portsmouth via the Downtown Tunnel under normal traffic, though tunnel congestion during peak hours can push that. Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) is farther, about 35–40 minutes up I-664 to the Peninsula.
For groups flying into either airport and needing a direct transfer into Portsmouth, a charter bus or minibus handles the run in one clean move. See the ORF shuttle guide and the PHF shuttle guide for more on how airport bus pickups work.
Can a party bus reach Busch Gardens from Portsmouth?
Absolutely. Busch Gardens Williamsburg is about 50 miles northwest of Portsmouth — roughly an hour's drive up I-664 and I-64 in typical conditions, though Friday afternoon traffic can add 20–30 minutes. A charter bus is the natural fit for school groups, family outings, or large birthday groups making the trip, with undercarriage storage for bags and onboard restrooms so the drive doesn't turn into a stop-by-stop ordeal.
Call 948-216-8670 for a per-day charter bus quote for your Williamsburg trip.
How far in advance should I book a party bus in Portsmouth?
For most Portsmouth trips — bar nights, birthday outings, sporting events — 4–8 weeks of lead time gives you solid options. For prom (late April–May), book by January; availability across Hampton Roads thins out fast once spring semester starts. For summer wedding weekends, the Virginia Beach Oceanfront season (Memorial Day through Labor Day), and major events like the Portsmouth Seawall Festival, book 2–3 months out.
The earlier you lock in your date, the more vehicle options and better pricing you'll see. Call 948-216-8670 as soon as your date is set.
Popular Portsmouth Party Bus Destinations
Portsmouth puts your group within easy reach of some of Hampton Roads' best venues, waterfront districts, and event spaces — most of them a tunnel or bridge crossing away. Here's a look at where Portsmouth groups are headed most often, and what the transportation picture actually looks like at each one.

Olde Towne Portsmouth Waterfront
The Olde Towne waterfront along Crawford Parkway and the Portside Waterfront Entertainment Complex is Portsmouth's primary destination for festivals, outdoor concerts, and waterfront dining. The Elizabeth River Ferry connects Olde Towne to the Norfolk waterfront at Waterside District on foot, but for groups arriving by bus, Crawford Parkway provides a straightforward curbside drop zone near the Portside complex. Street parking in the surrounding blocks fills up early on event days — particularly during 757 Mayfest and the Seawall Festival — making a direct bus drop the cleaner move.
The surrounding High Street corridor has a walkable bar and restaurant strip that pairs well with a party bus itinerary. Address: 6 Crawford Pkwy, Portsmouth, VA 23704.

Chartway Arena, Norfolk
Chartway Arena (4320 Hampton Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23508) holds 8,472 for basketball and hosts concerts, family shows, and ODU Monarchs athletic events year-round. It sits on the edge of Old Dominion University's campus, where nearby street parking is permit-controlled on game and event nights, and nearby garage options are limited. From Portsmouth, the drive is roughly 20 minutes via the Midtown Tunnel and Hampton Boulevard in normal conditions — but post-event exits on Hampton Boulevard back up significantly, and rideshares queue far from the arena exits.
A minibus or charter bus drops your group at the arena approach and stages for a set pickup time, so no one's standing on Hampton Boulevard at 11pm trying to get a car. Check the Chartway Arena official site for current parking guidance before your visit.
Phone: (757) 683-4444

Harbor Park, Norfolk
Harbor Park (150 Park Ave, Norfolk, VA 23504) is home to the Norfolk Tides, the Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and hosts occasional concerts and community events along the Elizabeth River waterfront. Street parking near the ballpark fills on popular game nights, and the walk from peripheral spots along the waterfront can stretch. From Portsmouth, Harbor Park is a 15-minute drive via the Downtown Tunnel and I-264 — but the tunnel backs up badly on Friday night game days, particularly if a Norfolk event is running simultaneously at another venue.
A Portsmouth charter bus drops the group on Park Avenue close to the main entrance and picks back up after the final out, skipping the tunnel queue on the return.
Phone: (757) 622-2222

Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, Virginia Beach
The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center (717 General Booth Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23451) is one of the most popular school field trip destinations in Hampton Roads, with more than 800,000 square feet of exhibits and a 300,000-gallon Norfolk Canyon aquarium tank. From Portsmouth, the drive runs about 35 minutes via the Downtown Tunnel and I-264 on a clear weekday morning — longer on Friday. The aquarium has a dedicated bus and group vehicle drop-off lane along General Booth Boulevard, and group admission is available for school parties with advance coordination.
Onboard restrooms on select charter buses keep the drive manageable for younger students. Contact the aquarium's group sales team before your visit for current capacity and drop-off protocols.
Phone: (757) 385-3474

Nauticus National Maritime Center, Norfolk
Nauticus (1 Waterside Dr, Norfolk, VA 23510) is a naval history museum and science center on the Norfolk waterfront, home to the Battleship Wisconsin (BB-64) — one of the largest battleships ever built by the U.S. Navy. It's a top destination for Portsmouth school groups and military family outings alike. Nauticus sits at the foot of Waterside Drive near the Norfolk Waterside District, about 15 minutes from Olde Towne Portsmouth via the Downtown Tunnel.
Bus drop-off is on Waterside Drive curbside, with parking for oversized vehicles coordinated in advance through the venue. Group rates are available; contact Nauticus directly for school group logistics.
Phone: (757) 664-1000

Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater, Virginia Beach
Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater (3550 Cellar Door Way, Virginia Beach, VA 23456) holds 20,000 people and hosts the region's biggest summer concert dates — from May through September, it books national touring acts nearly every weekend. From Portsmouth, the venue is about 40 minutes down I-264 toward Virginia Beach in normal conditions, but post-show outbound traffic on I-264 West toward the Downtown Tunnel is one of the worst traffic situations in Hampton Roads all summer. Rideshare pickups queue far from the exits and surge hard after 10:30pm.
A charter bus or large party bus eliminates the queue entirely — your group loads together at one staging point and the tunnel crossing is handled. Book concert buses for summer dates 6–8 weeks out; popular show dates fill fast.
